Features

Generally spoken pro motion is a "pixel pusher" that is working like the famous drawing packages Deluxe Paint or Brilliance published in the past for Commodore Amiga systems.
All tools are optimized for image and animation editing at pixel level for graphics with up to 256 palettized colors per frame.

Please have a look at the following grouped key features.

General features
  • Extended project management with media types and history
  • Simple and alpha transparency
  • Keyboard shortcuts can be modified
  • File drag and drop
  • Fast zoom and preview
  • Effects generator
  • Create or load animations from single image files
  • Advanced color reduction
  • Cropping and scaling of images/animations
  • Configure mouse wheel for different functions
  • Unlimited undo
  • Layered images and animations

GameDev Tools
  • RGB channel depth can be selected from 222 to 888
  • 16 color PNG support
  • Optimize tile based graphics for hand held systems that have a limited number of colors per tile like Gameboy Advance etc.
  • Support for tile painting to create endless textures
  • Tile map editor with auto optimization, mirroring, felxible export
  • AnimStrip files can be created containing frames side by side in a bitmap, PNG/BMP

Painting
  • Round, rectangular or custom brush shapes
  • Transparent brushes
  • Animated brushes (brush is animation itself)
  • Anti-aliasing
  • Over 25 different paint modes such as:
    • translucent
    • brighten

  • Continous and single dot painting
  • Up to 16 different free customable gradients
  • AnimPainting to flip frames WHILE drawing

Drawing Aids
  • Masking based on masked pixels or colors (stencil)
  • Grid to snap the brush to while drawing
  • Scaleable zoom grid to create any type of grid including isometric, octagon or box grids
  • Light table to lay different keyframes of an animation upon another to be displayed with different brightnesses. This effect is also called onion skinning.
  • User defined brush grip position
  • Use an image as fixed background
  • Simultanous display of zoomed and original image
  • Full screen mode
  • Scaled display of animations while playback
  • Onscreen resizeable brush container to work with different brushes
  • Display of position coordinates and dimensions

  • Rotate (90°, 180°, free with real time display)
  • Mirror
  • Resize (free or proportional stretching)
  • Outline with color
  • Shrink for one pixel row
  • Use a brush for pattern filling
  • Load/save (anim)brushes
  • Minimize a brush or animated brush to their optimal width and height (sprite optimizer)
  • Place your brushes into a brush container for parallel use

Animating
  • 3d-keyframer to create animations in 3d-space out of the current brush image to create flying logos, moving animations or hundred of different transition fx
  • Use animated brushes (brush is an animation itself)
  • Different delay values for each frame or FPS delay
