Menu File

The menu file is used to load or save project files, images and animations. Several specialized import/export functions are located here, too. Set up the preferences or keyboard shortcuts.

New Project (submenu)

Create

Opens the dialog to setup project type, sizes and the number of frames, palette etc. to be created.

Create from Brush

Will use the contents of the current brush for creating a new project from it.

Create from Clipboard Contents

If there are graphic data in the clipboard then you can use this function to create new project from it. This even works with multiple layers and frames that have been used along with the Copy function in menu Frame.

Create from single Images

Lets you define a range of single images to create a new project from.

Recent Files (submenu)

Contains a list of files that have been used recently.

Load Project

Loads a previously saved project. You should save your work as a project file whenever possible because there are a lot of options that can not be stored in a simple image or animation file.

Save Project

Allows you to save the current project under the name you have saved it before without asking you for a filename -> quick save.

Save Project as

Saves the current project to a new file.

Save Copy as

Stores the current project into a second file while the file of the current project is retained and still used by Save Project function.

Save all modified

Saves all projects that have been modified during the session.

Close

Closes the current project.

Close other

Closes all projects but the current one.

Close all

Closes all projects.

Load Image

Opens the common dialog for loading files under Windows and enables you to select an image that is to be loaded. Normally only 256 color images are supported for reading. True color images are only supported for certain file types. If such an image is loaded then a dialog appears for automatic color reduction.

Save Image

Allows you to save the current image under the name you have saved it before without asking you for a filename.

Save Image as

Opens the common dialog for saving files under Windows and enables you to enter a new filename for the current image and saves it with one of the supported file types.

Load Animation

Opens the common dialog for loading files under Windows and enables you to select an animation that is to be loaded. If a Windows AVI file is loaded the dialog for color quantization appears as described for Load Image.
When loading a sprite sheet image then a special settings dialog may appear if the layout of the sprite sheet is unknown.

Save Animation

Allows you to save the current animation under the name you have saved it before without asking you for a filename -> quick save.

Save Animation as

Opens the common dialog for saving files under Windows and enables you to enter a new filename for the current animation and to save it with one of the supported file types.
When saving a sprite sheet image then a special settings dialog appears. The information for the sprite sheet layout is stored into a second file with the extension ".asd.json". If you copy a sprite sheet bmp file to another location, be sure to copy the JSON file, too!

Animation (submenu)

Append single Images

Lets you define a range of single images to be appended to the current one.

Append Animation

Loads an animation and appends it to the last frame of the current animation.

Save as single Images

Shows a dialog box, where you can save an animation to single image files frame by frame.

Import Image

loads an image file into the current frame.

Print

Opens a dialog window to print a range of frames.

Project Settings

Each project can have special settings which can be modified here.

Preferences

Here you can customize some global preferences of the application.
The preferences are divided into different sections.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Set up or modify keyboard shortcuts for application functions in this dialog.
