Menu Colors

This menu contains functions for work with color palette data and gradients.

Gradients

Opens the gradient manager to add or modify gradient entries.

Count Colors used

Gives you the number of palette entries that are actually used by the image or animation.

Get Palette from Brush

Copies the brush color palette to the current frame palette. Use the Remap Colors function to fit the image to the new color palette.

Import Colors from Brush

Import colors from the active brush into the project's color palette. A dialog will open that allows you to place the colors into the color palette.

Remap Colors (submenu)

If you change the color palette, but you don't want these changes to take effect to the image, this function adapts all colors of the pixels to their current color palette according to the colors the image had before the change. You can remap the colors of Frames, Brush to match the current color palette.
In contrast Brush to Gradient and Frame(s) to Gradient remaps the current frame colors to the currently selected gradient. This way you can make pixels used the best matching colors of a set of predefined colors.

Resample Colors

This function does the same as Remap Colors but the image will be dithered to increase virtual color depth.

Swap FG/BG Color (submenu)

Swaps the current selected first color index with the second color index in either Picture/Animation or Brush.

Color Constraints (submenu)

These menu functions define settings for the color constraint checks of the current project and check for errors to reveal misplaced pixels.

Generate Color Palette

Lets you create color palette based on different settings.

Modify Channel Bit Depth

Opens a dialog box that allows you to reduce the number of bits used for each of the RGB color and alpha channels.

Reduce Colors

Opens a dialog box that allows you to reduce the number of colors used by an image or a range of frames.

Remove unused Colors

Remove colors from the color palette that are not used by any pixel.
Blacken turns the unused colors to black.
Compact will remove the color entries and shifts the ones that follows to fill the gaps.

Remove duplicate Colors

Remove colors from the color palette that are duplicate in the color palette.
Blacken turns the duplicate colors to black.
Compact will remove the color entries and shifts the ones that follows to fill the gaps.

Remove zero Alpha Pixels

Sets all pixels in the color plane to the defined project background color (usually white) that have a zero alpha value. This function is only available for alpha enabled projects.

Load Palette

Loads a color palette from either a palette or image file.

Save Palette

Saves a color palette file.
